Just about everyone comments on our name, for both the fun of it and some with perhaps query. Why Copycat Communications?
In 1995 I decided to freelance as a copywriter. Having been a Seuss fan all my life the idea clicked – I called myself 'the “copy” cat' and developed a 'girl' cat – pearls, gloves and a smile with a clear Seuss influence. Within a very short period of time I received requests from clients to extend the service. In 1996 I was joined by Joanne Preiss to head up the graphic design department and out of that Copycat Communications was born.
Our aim was to market the company as a fun brand that could do serious business. Over the years different cats emerged which we used in our advertising and marketing campaigns. These “gals” were bright-eyed, catching and a bit cheeky (much like us I suppose). It worked for us. We went from a magic cat, a spring cat, a sailor gal to sassy madam marketing and a South African cat that travelled into space. Although we have re-branded and are repositioning our company, our cats will always be part of our story. They have served us well over the years. With respect, we’ve included them as greyscale icons in our articles.
In terms of Jo and me – well… we are often referred to simply as 'The Cats'. We have been dedicated to Copycat Communications and our business partnership since the company began and from this platform we have been able to offer our clients a top product with service excellence at all times. We strive for good relations with all our clients and, as importantly, with our suppliers.
‘The Cats' have travelled the road for 15 years with each year offering up both opportunities and challenges. We embrace both equally and stay committed and focused on the journey ahead.
